Adam Martyniuk: From Education for Life to Life-Long Education

 

"I welcome the opportunity to exchange the opinions about science and education," declared the First Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine A.Martyniuk, addressing the attendants of the Sitting of the Standing Commission for Science and Education of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

 

According to A.Martyniuk, "Ukraine is interested in the development of bilateral relations with its neighbours and partners in the post-Soviet space."

 

A. Martyniuk stated that Ukraine was joining the bodies of sectoral cooperation of the CIS. Thus far, Ukraine is going to join the council of humanitarian cooperation and the inter-state fund of humanitarian cooperation.  "This process in neither easy nor instantaneous, as the fundamental agreement on humanitarian cooperation should come into force. However, we are planning to finalize the required procedures as soon as possible, while Ukraine will host the 6th forum of creative and scholarly intellectuals of CIS member-states," stressed A. Martyniuk. He also informed that Ukraine initiated hosting several cultural and artistic events.

 

"Development of effective education systems remains a constant priority of our state policy, stated A. Martyniuk. "I know about similar processes in other countries. We are united by common goals and challenges."

 

"Cooperation in the sector of innovations is a priority aspect for CIS. However, this cooperation is not systemic," admitted A. Martyniuk. "It is essential to take inventory of the formerly adopted documents of the Commonwealth on scientific-technological and innovational cooperation, and amend the Agreement on formation of a common scientific-technological space of CIS member-states of November 3, 1995."   

 

A. Martyniuk promised comprehensive support in the sphere of education and science. He wished successful work to the participants of the sitting.
